Please help guys
There shouldnt be overall, the car is pretty solid, but that of course depends on how long it has actually been sitting. Pretty sure if we are talking years, then you'll need to flush fluids, have it pressure checked (to make sure there are no vacume or boost leaks, have the bushings and all of that kind of stuff checked - basically all the rubber parts that could have gotten dry/cracked/whatever...but other than that stuff i couldnt imagine anything big from it just sitting there. And how long could it have been sitting anyway? i cant imagine having one of these cars and not driving it for years on end.
Those problems are the type of thing i worry about on like an early to late 80s car that has been sitting for a while.
- someone else can tell you better as to identifying the x50, but pretty sure that will be one of the option codes under the front hood, and you can look at the intercoolers under the rear bumper - i think the x50/GT2 ones are smooth and the regular TT ones have ridges, but there are probably other ways to tell as well.
Best thing is to drive it and see what you think and take it to a porsche place and have a pre-purchase inspection done. Provided all that comes back okay - buy the dang thing :-)

996tt is what many members on this board have dreamed of getting a few years back
don't get me wrong, the bmw m5 is a nice car... i PERSONALLY would never buy the new one, i would rather have an s6 ,
but anyway
the 996tt is an engineering icon
its a more powerful, more exclusive, better performing vehicle
the m5 is better suited for people with kids i think.....
whatever decision you make, i wish you the best of luck
post pics of your 996tt when you get it

I have both cars. For long trips on freeways I will take the M5 over the TT every time. For back roads and track days the TT is way more fun. Just be careful of any 996TT . Mine is a 2001 with 25K miles. I just had to replace the tranny (it would sometimes pop out of 2nd gear) and that cost almost $10K but luckily I have an extended warranty
