Gear lever adjustment

Hi all,

If you dont have the factory adjustment tool that clips over the gear lever housing how do you go about adjusting it?

ie should the travel from side to side be exactly the same either way from neutral??

Also would the same apply to up and down from neutral?

Sorry for the lame post but i recall reading on here somewhere abut it but cant find the damn post.

Thanks again.

here's how you use the adjustment tool:

1) unclip the two shifter cables from the shifter
2) clip on the adjustment tool to the shifter, which should keep the shifter perfectly centered
3) with the adjustment clip in place, reattach shifter cables
4) remove adjustment clip, test all gears including reverse
5) start engine, test it again with the shift **** temporarily put on
6) reinstall center console after you're happy with it, may take a few tweaks

hope that helps. by the way, this tool does not work for the porsche/b&M short shift kit. if you do a short shift kit later on, make sure to mark the ****ft cable positions before replacing the shifter.
