Silicon hose kit options?

What are my options for a good silicon hose kit (stock intake and turbo hardware)? I see Evo has an option for a grand, are there other options?
How necessary is it on these cars?

My gut tells me, based on previous turbos i've modified, that its a worthwhile anytime you are pushing more than stock boost...and some cars even on a stock engine, but figured i'd ask to see anyones experience/opinions.
TIA

Anybody got opinions on either set - EVO vs. the Vivid Racing hose kits?

I use the EVO ones...got a good deal on them some time ago. It is kind of like DVs...eventually the stock ones will go. I also heard Samco makes them. The EVO ones are a direct fit.

I have the Vivid set including the F-hose and the build quality seems quite good. I don't think you would go wrong with either set ,though I find it humurous how expensive they are compared to a hose kit for my STi.

Well i had Samco on my S4 and they were good...the price doesnt suprise me as the audi kit was up there close to a grand iirc as well - course there were more hoses, but these have the machines metal ends and all that so whatever.
seems like the vivid ones are a little cheaper. I suppose i'll see who has red in stock and take it from there.

--anybody heard of anyone blowing any of them from either EVO or Vivid?

OK........what am I missing if I still have original?
Yep I'd like a bit more color in there but hey, a 2001 with 30K on the clock, I'm boosting 1.2 or 1.3, not aware of any issues.

Course now that I've asked, I'll blow one on the way home tonight

Keep in mind any color other than black will show grease and dirt easily.

When choosing which brand to go with, I would think more long term. Consider how far you expect to take your upgrades. You or your local shop may be able to put on some boost hoses, but if you eventually decide to do an engine rebuild or even a 700hp kit, you'll probably want a specialty shop. In that case, I would start building a relationships. With some good planning now, you'll be much less likely to have a ad-hoc or miss-matched collection of upgrades.

Oak, thanks for the input but....until I find a way to keep em clean from the grease and dirt, I'm sitting tight.
You serious on the power?......what are we talking about, some expansion on OEs with full boost? or what.

Obviously you have the grease & dirt thing licked.

Oak.......it is possible we've found an engine cleaner than yours.
