Oil Filter wrench Size - Need Help

Hi,

I used to have a socket that allows me to remove the oil filter cap in order to change the filter. I lost that adapter and cannot remember what is the "size" of it. I remember that it cannot be purchased at the dealer, but found an alternate at the auto shop. Just need to know what is the size I need. I think is was a number, like 7 or 8...

Thanks

I found one a Autozone, but most any will have one that fits. It is not a Porsche only wrench. Check them out at the store and ask to take one to the parking lot to see which fits your 996.

I bought one at a dollar store. It says 76/14 on the inside and it measures exactly 3" diameter ID.

14 flats, sort of like a 12 point socket but this is 14. FYI, I could not get any of the cheaper autopart store tools to work. The metal one posted above works well.
