OBD Reader - is this compatible with 996TT?

Hi guys,

any idea whether this will work on the 996TT? Fitted exhaust and want to ensure it is the new cats that are causing the CEL issue and not something else without having a trip to the dealer etc,

thanks

Hi, yes, any OBDII reader will work with the Porsche. There are
many on the market, and the smallest chepaest ones are still
plenty capable of reporting the codes found and clearing them.
I used one on my 996tt last week. For some reason it was
running a little rough and the check engine light came on. The
reader gave me the code (0300) 'random misfires in multiple cylinders",
which I cleared. I suspect I had some bad gas... It hasn't returned.

Great thanks a lot Joe - will invest in one - i have one repeatedly coming up for what i think must be the new exhaust i have fitted. I cleared it by disconnecting the battery but it has returned - guess theres not much I can do if the exhaust is the issue right!?

cheers

I don't think an exhaust per-se will cause codes/CELs, unless it's
really broken/home-made crap (different back pressure for different
sides of the car etc). See what your codes are first.

It seems like a good exhaust as makes quite a bit of an improvement to lag and torque. I bought it from a friend who works at porsche. It doesnt have a name on it so hard to tell who makes it - apparently it came off a 996TT tuned at Gemballa.

thanks
