Brembo v. GT2 Brakes?

Just purchased a set of Brembo's new monoblock 6 piston brakes, only to find out that they will not fit under my stock hollows. I dont really want to drop another 6k in a 18in racing wheel so i'm thinking of selling them and getting a set of 6 piston GT2 brakes. Has anyone gone from the two? I'd like to know if the stopping power in the brembos is really worth the extra 6k needed for wheels? Thanks!

Hey Colby.. what you can do instead is the EVOMs kit which will fit under your stockers. It uses the GT3 caliper (6piston) and now a 997TT rotor... Done that plenty of times and it works really well. Otherwise you're right, you'll need to get some custom 18s.

Shark, that was actually the route i was planning to go. Do you know how the two compare in stopping power? I heard some members were able to get that kit as cheap as 2800?

CarNerd,

It really has more to do with the tires you are running rather than stopping power. I have the EVO kit on my GT700 and they are excellent.

Putting bigger tires up front would make a dramatic difference to your braking performance. I intend to go with 245's from my 235's. I wish we could easily fit larger tires up front but we cannot with major rubbing issues or fender work. The front tires give up before the brakes do unless you are racing the car.

The 6 pot GT3 calipers provide ample stopping power, the larger rotors will disipate more heat so resisting brake fade. Another thing to consider is pads, if you want an excellent pad go with the Pagid Oranges, but they will have a tendency to squeal in normal street use, but they are fantastic pads when you give her in the mountain passes!

Go with the EVO or similar kit, you will be very happy.

Just like Sharky suggests!.
