at WOT, what RPM is the tiptronic supposed switch gears? does flashing the ecu change the shifting points?

 

At WOT, my car shifts at redline in 1st and 2nd if I keep my foot to the floor. If I gradually lift, it will upshift. If I lift quickly, it holds the gear for a bit.

I am surprised that your car will hold first gear to readline. I am informed that the tranny computer will shift first at 4500 or so. I have a chipped tip and it will not pull first to 6k. Are you sure it is holding that far. If so I need to talk to your chipper about fizing mine. I have a book on the turbo that says the tiptronic does this because of the extreme forces put on the tranny shaft so it is a self preservation setting. Try it again and let me know if this is actually the case. Mine will pull all other gears to readline but not first. Thanks.

 

Silver -- Mine shifts at redline in 1st if I keep my foot to the floor. I'm surprised to hear that yours won't go above 4500rpm in first. I don't know who the ECU flash is from, as I bought used and don't have those records. It doesn't go past redline in 1st or 2nd at WOT, but the tach needle goes right up the redline. I don't feel much boost until after 3000rpm, so if it shifted on its own at 4500rpm in 1st every time, I wouldn't be happy with that.

At part throttle, it will shift on its own well before redline.

 

I will look in the book I was refering to that said the stock computer tranny is what limited the shift. Something about the shat has a certain gear made onto it and the other gears 2-5 ar seperate gears or something. My car is still boosting hard even shifting at 4500. I would like mine to pull 1st to redline but it is a different computer controlling the tranny and no one seems to be able to reflash the tip computer. Any other guys seein redline in first? How about the old black mamba sharkey?

My car has an ecu upgrade that was done by EVOMS. I do get shifting points at redline in 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5ith gears. But for some reason, 3rd gear shifts early. Around 5000 rpm's or so.

Get in contact with Todd Z. @ EVOMS. He is familiar with those gears.
