Camber plates

I am thinking of changing out my stock strut mounts to camber plates. Any consensus on which brand is best? And does anyone know if a problem would occur if I only changed the fronts and left the rear strut mounts stock (rubber)? Lastly, I know that the ride will be not as compliant as stock, but would it make it uncomfortable for either daily street driving, or longer cruises? Thanks for the feedback.

Make sure you get them for an AWD and not just a 996. The AWD have an angle and without it you will have bind. The GT2’s and GT3’s both come with camber plates. You will notice a little difference ride but not much. Where they will really shine is in hard hard cornering. I would NOT put bearing shock mounts in the rear. When you change the rears you gain substantial road noise and don’t get as much performance gains as you will from that fronts. However, that said, if you don’t plan on racing the car I think I’d leave both front and rear stock … I’d be more likely to remove the air first …

Thanks for the advice Cary. I am glad to hear that the ride isn't affected too much. I was aware of the angle difference between the 996 and 996 TT AWD mounts. I blew out the rubber on one of my first stock mounts because I didn't transfer the cup shaped washers over to the PSS9's when originally installing them. The replacement mount the dealership gave me was for a 996, and it looked obviously different than the original.

Another point, I was really surprised to read that the torque values for the nuts on the stock mounts was only something like 12lbs! And, I can tell you from personal experience that you better not try to exceed that value as the threads are incredibly easy to strip. Seems like those are way too weak given what they need to take stress wise. But, I am not an engineer so what do I know ...

Ok, I have pretty much made up my mind to change to camber plates. I am very addicted to tracking the car, so am looking for a bit more strength and stability. Cary, do you have a camber plate recommendation, I should consider?

Thanks,
