First Kill
I was cruising about 70 on the 210 on the way to our Wednesday night GTG in the city of Alhambra when I noticed one of the new hemi Chargers pacing me from the car pool lane. I got caught up in traffic as I moved to the slow lane to enter the 57 freeway. As I got closer to the 57 freeway, the Charger jumped out of the carpool lane and moved into the slow lane a few hundred feet in front of me.
I moved one more lane to my right and noticed the Charger did the same. I thought either he wants to play or maybe he just noticed his exit and had to get over. As we go south on the 57 he's in the fast lane and slows down and I catch up to him on his right and look over. His lady friend looks at me and says something to him which causes him to look at me. There is no reaction so I slowly speed up to pass a few cars and move into the slow lane to prepare to go west on the 10 freeway.
I look in my rear view mirror and the Charger is now on my bumper. He speeds up and gets on my left just as we enter the transition road to the 10 freeway west. He looks over and then accelerates and the race is on. For a second or two we're even, but then I start pulling away from him at a pretty good rate of speed. I put about three to four cars on him before we have to slow down.
When we hit the 10, he gets caught in traffic and slows way down. I start cruising at 70 not expecting to see him again, but I see him catching up with me. When I look over, he and his lady friend start laughing and waving. Yes, life is good.
