Bailey DV vs. Tial BOV

Instead of using the Bailey DV's, has anyone tried installing some BOV's from Tial or anything?

I've always been a fan of Tial Turbo parts and can get them at wholesale, so I would love to use them. Plus, they're nice and loud when I lift off the throttle which is a cool bonus to me.

How much harder is it to install a BOV that vents the extra pressure into the atmosphere vs. a DV that rerouts the extra pressure back into the system?

Thanks,
KJ

The bailey's do NOT vent to atmosphere like the BOV's do so they are different in that respect and because we have complicated MAF's etc... it generally fouls them or at least sets of a CEL.

PS What's the weather like up there? I'm heading up for a biz trip for a few days?

Yeah, I know the Bailey's do NOT vent to the atmosphere, that's why I was asking if anyone tried a BOV that would. But seeing as it would lead to CEL's, I won't bother. =)

Toronto weather is ok. It's cool...around 50 degrees or so with a bit of drizzle. It's quite variable from day to day. Right now it's pouring rain, but it was sunny all weekend. Hopefully when you come down, the sun will come out!

Thanks for the reply,
KJ

You have to redo the plumbing and retune the ECU if you want to use real BOV's. My 996TT had Blitz BOV's.

Protomotive knows how to make it work.

Damn, the Blitz BOV's sound CRAZY too. That was also one of my top choices. *drool*

I dunno if it's worth all the work though if all I plan to do is chip the car (Upsolute or GIAC).

Well, the ram air intake that comes with it provided very quick turbo spool up and great power gains.

Basically, you can get your plumbing redone to hard piping, relocation of the MAF downstream of the turbos, real BOV's, and an ECU tune for probably around $5000. And I think your power gains will be much better than Upsolute or a comparable Stage 2 GIAC package.

The intake was part of the reason why my Turbo made so much power so quickly!
