Anyone recommend a clutch and reputable shop near Tacoma, WA for 996 TT IA stage 2.5

A friend has an Imagine Auto stage 2.5 pkg in his '02 TT and the clutch has just started slipping. Looking for a reputable shop local to Tacoma, WA to replace the clutch and any recommendations for a clutch to hold HP in the low to mid 500HP range that maintains the stock/light feel. I drove Vincent's GT2 with the Sach's clutch and thought it felt way too heavy...

What is a reasonable amount to expect to pay to replace a clutch - I've never done it on a 996TT.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Daniel

Hi.

Ditto.

See my thread in rennlist....with a link to a movie of the before and after. Better than stock IMHO, better revving...like finding 40hp or so.

Good luck.

See my .sig

+3 on Kevin's kit. Just did the clutch and LWFW and it feels better than stock. Expect to pay about 2000-2500 for install, though.

Wow - thanks for the quick responses. I'll pass the info along.

What is the hp rating of the clutch you guys are referring to and does it include replacement of the flywheel? Does $2000 - $2500 include the price of the clutch or just labor to install?

I tried to google UMW - where are they located?

Kevin is in the eastside (Redmond area). The clutch kit including LWF is around 1900-2K. Install at a dealer should be around 2K+. If you want you can take it to my friends shop in Van BC to get it done for half that. PM me if your interested.

A clutch R+R should not be more than 10 hours labor. 1K$ at a good independent shop. Do not let them tell you the engine needs to come out for a clutch R+R.. I have his custom Kevlar disc and LWFW and it is going in very soon Kevin rocks!

I e-mailed Kevin at Ultimatemotorwerks.com and he quoted me $1950 for a clutch kit and he recommended Cantrell Motorsports in Kirkland for the install. I believe this is where Vincent had his clutch installed and I dont believe they are going to be at the $1k range. Anyone know of a reputable local shop that will install it for $1k as mentioned?

Cantrell

I have recently begun using Cantrell Motorsports in Kirkland. In my experience, he is a good wrench and honest. I recommend him.
