My 2002 TT is at the shop fixing the dreaded '2nd gear pop-out' issue and a couple of other items. But one thing the extended warranty company said they don't cover is the spoiler malfunction. Anyone have the same problem? What was your solution? I think my micro switch is bad which causes the pump motor to continue pumping until it overheats and sends a signal to the dash.

Mike, why would the dealer not cover the spoiler issue under warranty? Do you have the factory warranty or aftermarket.

 

I was told by a few people that the entire assembly was replaced by the dealer under warranty.

 

Some dealers insists on replacement. Some try to reseal the units. No standard but the easiest, of course, is replace everything.

 

They replaced mine under warranty when mine failed on my 01. try another dealer if they won't change their position.

 

Mine was replaced entirely. The dealer say the spoiler was worn and my warantee covered everything. I think the total was a tad under $2000 or something.

 

What's the reason for not covering the spoiler malfunction? Seems like a very limited warranty if it won't even cover basic "malfunctions".

 

I have an after-market warranty through Easy Care. It looks like I don't have much to stand on after reading the contract through a couple of times.

 

CPO doesnt cover it ~$1500 for parts n labor.

 

Porsche's own CPO warranty does not cover the fix? On what one could argue is a known manufacturing defect?

 

That's what I am wondering about. Mine has been fixed in the past according to Porsche records with 2 brand new hydraulic replacements.

 

the CPO has a list of stuff that's NOT covered.

New car warranty >> CPO

Its worth a try though, but they wil likely show you the list and laugh...
