There is a member named GRUSSELL who had a pretty like TT or GT2 that has since been converted back to stock. He got his car below 3,000lbs i believe. Here are some ideas if you are going pure track
1) Remove all sound dedening and carpet (this can actually be over 200lbs in some cars)
2) remove AC compressor, motors, and ducting
3) Remove rear and passenger seats
4) Remove all interior trim and stereo
5) Remove headliner
6) if your car has a sunroof remove it and get a carbon fiber roof
7) lightweight battery
8) Lightweight seat
9) dynamag or BBS race wheels
10) Lightweight brakes
11) Convert to RWD
12) Carbon fiber drive shaft (EVO MS can help with this)
13) Remove door panels
14) replace all glass with properly rated lexan or window nets
15) Lightweight exhaust
16) Carbon fiber body panels
I hope this list gives you some ideas of what you can do to get the weight of the car down. This list should help get you to under 3,000lbs

One thing is never remove Air Con if your gonna track it, even the GT3 Guys need this, hot day on track with super hot car, 110% concentration on fast driving, sapping energy and body fluids, don't remove it, trust me!

why are you doing this and what will the purpose of the car be? What races will it run in and what class do you hope to run in?
I would ask myself that first. It is better to choose a class and prepare a car for it than tear a car up and have no idea what class it will run in.

Thanks crazy great guide lines..
Tom, good questions....i think mainly PCA SCCA maybe a few endurance race in a year or so...I am just thinking about what would work best financially...I would rather have a car that is paid for on the track...I love my turbo ...on the track it is almost completly set up...one trip to Protomotive and the mechanic will be done,

As for money. I kept my TT modded to near race prep but save it for DE instructing and time trials. I went with a $5 944S2 for ***** out wheel to wheel racing. I total it, I walk away. Food for thought.

Thanks Tom...That is exactly my state of mind....The TT is or will be paid off...I feel more comfortable driving a car on the track thats paid ...beside weight and a full roll cage...that car is set...
