e55 is an electronic video game, i am never buying another mb after my wife's 2001 S600. they suck.

new audi S4 is 5.0 0-60 car for only 47-51K very price effective, new XJR is 5.0 car but boring looking, with good handling. my wife has orderd a quattroporte which is truly beautiful in person and f.g fast.

new porsche sedan in 2007 will be her next rig after the Q

The new M5 will not be out in the States until Fall '05!! So you have awhile to wait. I would definately check out the Cadillac CTS V spec, and the current E55. The E55 is a great highway cruiser that has more then enough power (it has less then the SL due to different crossover pipes in the exhaust).Besides those two, I do not see many new 4 door sport sedans that I would consider in an elite class.

I think the new 545i is quote a nice daily driver. Looks great, handles well, decent performance for a sedan, impressive technology and suprisingly good mileage. I get 28-30 on the highway. I'm on the list for the new M5 but if you can't wait to get out of your SUV this is a hell of a car.

mercedes /= sporty

i'd suggest a used M5 (new one will take a while to get) or even new regular 5 or a Cayenne Turbo. Maserati could be a good option too ... and more unique.

Lou,

Yeah, that is the car i am talking about. I am thinking 4door, with the wife, kids and all but i know as soon as i walk into the BMW dealership i will want the 645ci. I have always love the M6 ever since I saw it in "Moonlighting" with Bruce Willis and Cybil Sheppard.

If i traded in my M3 Convertable, I know the allure of the 645ci would be overwelming, but i hate seeing it just sitting in the garage not getting any use.

Look at the above side shot of Lou's black 645ci ... cover the rear deck spoiler with your thumb ... squint a little ...what car does it remind you of ?
