Kevin,
I think SpeedLingerie is going to use Fred's car as a template to develop a bra for TechArt nosed cars. Until that time, what are you using? I didn't think there was a bra out there for the TA nose.

I have both.

Short history: I had full 3M film on last car. Stongard brand. It worked great, but I got a little tired of the line on the hood. (FYI... there is NO yellowing, and if it does, it's fully warrantied. Also, yellow bug stains bleach out in the sun every time.)

On my TT, I only put the 3M on the bumper. You can't see it at all on there like you can on the hood. Then, I have Speed Lingerie for my hood only that I put on and take off when needed.

I'd recommend both!

3M film is good stuff, but it's definitely not the be all, all end all paint protector.

I've had it on my car for about 2 years now and the front bumper looks much better than it would have without. There are some tears due to debris over the 30K miles I've put on so far, but the factory paint is still intact and my lower spoiler is totally cool.

I'm all for a clean car, but my dick isn't tied around the paint quality of my car so take my experience for what you will.

I can't stand leather bras or whatever you guys use. Especially on a sports car! P-tarded.

If you have a Porsche, I wouldn't bother installing it yourself. It'll have bubbles and come up at the edges. "Clear Bra's" are only as good as the install.

If you have a Honda S2000, then I guess it really doesn't matter if the film is peeling at the edges or not. =) J/K

Get it installed by a recommended installer, NEVER do it yourself.

I had Stongard on my Honda S2000. Both headlights were ruined within 2 months of applying that product. No worries right? I have a warranty. WRONG! They basically told me to go and screw myself. They even threatened me with a slander suit when I complained on the S2ki forums. To this day they have never repaired the damage. I will never use one of those products again. Any warranty is as worthless as the product.

I ordered my SpeedLingerie Bra today!

Personally, I like both. The only time I put the Speedlingerie on is a fairly long highway trip and it comes off and is cleaned at destination.......remounted for return.

The Scotchcal has been on for 3 yrs...still looks good, has saved me alot of daily dings, makes clean-up easier, and protects well on the track........I do not have it on the hood, only the bumper.

What happened - did the lights crack/break from stones in spite of the film or did something else happen (film caused heat retention or somesuch)?

The lights became "crazed". Thousands of tiny little cracks over the entire surface of the lenses. It had nothing to do with stones etc, in my opinion, it was due to the product or its installation. It was installed by the company rep by the way.

I would expect that from a dark color owner. On the lighter colors (arctic, meridian, polar, white, seal gray, yellow) you cannot see the film. One trick is to keep the polish/wax off the edge of the film. As for concourse, there is no point deduction for film. There is also no deduction for chips if they have had an "attempted repair." Bras as I understand are not allowed unless you are in a modified catagory, or you remove it. As for looks, the color matched bra is a fantastic idea. As for peeling of the edges, a good installer will guarantee the product for a period of time, usually 3 years.

James is right........you can not see it on A.Silver (or I wouldn't use it, **** as I am).

.........BTW, for a dark car, 3m Scotchcal can be painted w/urathane base paint to car color before installation (install w/in 48 hrs)......this 993 has it all over the front bumper and in front of the rear wheel arches. Another upside of this trick is that it covers any blems the paint already has....makes it look great again........blacks a pain in the butt.......but when she's clean it's supreme
