Test Pipes

Did a search and there are no threads dedicated to this topic. That fact is strange because other car "communities" (like the VQ3.5 for example) have many many discussions about the merits/drawbacks of test pipes. I am contemplating going with test pipes for my GT2 along w/ the new (Proto) fuel system I am installing. Legality is not an issue since they are for dedicated use "in Mexico." Also, they don't use tailpipe sniffers here in the Republic of Texas.

The plus is that I will get a legit 10-15 whp and much faster turbo spool. The downside is that they turn my exhuast black and are a bit loud. However, I have been told that w/ my Europipe the sound will not be too loud.

Any advice/insight will be appreciated.

Dr_jitsu: No, it will be the Europipe loud w/ the cats removed. I will have muffler. Very different from straight pipes...which are just that.

it is the best possible mix of sound and performance you will ever find from an exhaust system...it cracks, burbles, pops and sounds just like a straight pipe without ANY of the drone of the straight pipes...long trips are EASY with the system and it sounds MEAN under accel or harsh decel...youll be popping with every up and downshift when your turbos create enough heat...

Thanks again....I searched under "straight pipes" and indeed did find some people who considered cat delete as the same as a straight pipe with mufflers. Todd K. says the Europipe w/out cats will sound quite nice.
