Tuner in Texas

I think Carboy (imports) and MTI (domestics) have not done newer Porsches. If you're looking for overboring/ sleeving, there are some machine shops in houston that can do that and assemble the long block at the same time (but they probably won't/ can't dyno tune these porsches in Houston; because there isn't a big market plus the amount $$$ it would cost). Tuning on the other hand I would ship to Proto.

My observations-
I think the closest hardcore 911 tuner to us is going to be Imagine Auto in Kansas, and Ruf AC in Dallas. I think the RUF stuff is waay overpriced. Stephen at Imagine works directly with Garret at GIAC. ProTechnik and Viking Motors have a good amount experience if you want to go Motec or other stand alone. Carboy can do piggybacks on virtually anything.
Suspension wise it would be hard to overlook Don Irby at Porsche West Houston. The guy has been setting up PCA club racers for perhaps 20 or so years. For people who have done lowering springs he can send off your Bilsteins for a rebuild + piston shortening + matched revalving to Bilstein in California. Usually takes 2 weeks and is about $500 for a set of 4. Sam at ProTechnik is also no slouch. Sam can fab a cage as well, but his dyno sux and the wideband never works.
For machine work, I have heard of a great machine shop in San Antonio (forget the name) which is very reasonable on the floating cylinder sleeve blocks. Lindsey in Oklahoma can also do blocks and has a great reputation on heads. If you port your heads PolyDyn in NW Houston has a great temp coating for the exhaust ports and piston tops, as well as a friction coat for the piston skirts and crank arms. They of course also do header and turbine coatings and their turn around is much much faster than Swain, Airborne, etc.
Texas Turbos here in town off 290 and Mangum does turbo rebuilds for $275 in about 2 days. They are one of the largest rebuilders in the country, and have a limitless selection of Garret and Turbonetics, as well as replica KKK turbine housings. They do most of the Porsche KKK turbo rebuilds for Majestic in Waco I have been told.
Lastly, if anyone needs some serious exotic alloy/aluminum welding done, there is an absolute master of welding at a small place called Lonestar Metalworks near Long Point. Broken studs, cracked blocks, cracked heads - you name it he has fixed it for me. Usually charges about $20-40 per repair.

OK, first hand...Jarrett has tuned many 996's successfully...
Partly sarcastic mostly serious, give him a call if you want. I'm just helping you guys out with options, that's all...

Luis at Autodynamica is a stand up guy knows his stuff and has great customer service. He takes care of a couple of the High HP Porsche's in Houston. If your looking for a flash and the basics he is the Houston area EVO distributor.

I thought Rob completed his build a LONG time ago. In fact, Rob posted the following 2.5 months ago (May 18):

Back in May, Rob wrote that his car was "finishing in two weeks vs. 12 months" (and he went on to describe the sound as "a EVOMS eater"). Yet, Dr. J's post suggests that Rob's car was not "finished in two weeks" and is not done 2.5 months later (otherwise he would know the HP output). I admittedly am confused.
What is the status of Rob's car? What has been happening since Rob's May 18 post proclaiming the two week completion time (and thanking EVOMS for declining to accept the job)?
Thanks,
Craig
