Does Any One Know This Car?

I bought my '03 X50 in March. The CarFax report said it was from IL. I'm trying to figure out if it was modded in any way.

It's black on black with these Techart door sills and red consol. It had 16K miles on it when I bought it.

If you've ever seen more than 0.8 bar of boost, you're modded in at least one way...

I need some internal work done and have been told it's covered under warranty if it has NOT been modded..e.g. flywheel, internal mods or maybe reflashed back to stock by Porsche; so I'm trying to find out before the dealer gets into it.

The car is black / black WITH A RED CENTER CONSOLE. VIN # WP0AB299X3S685144. From the Chicago area.

I'm having trouble pasting a picture.

its an x50, .8 should be stock...I would say more if you hit 1.0 its flashed. Its easy to tell. If you think you are, you can uninstall the ecu which takes all of 5 min (do a search) and it MAY have a sticker to tell you by whom. Then you can explain your situation and they can flash back to stock for relatively cheap and maybe when the work is done flash back for cheap.

Good luck, what internal work do you need done?

Sounds like a rattle in the transmission. I've been told that a light weight flywheel will make the same noise. Soooo I'm trying to figure that out before goes in to fix it. If it's an aftermarket fly wheel, I waste a bunch of service time for them to tell me.

If the noise stays the same over the next few thousand miles I would leave it alone.Check to make sure the car is unflashed by running it in 4th gear from about 2500 rpms to 6000rpms and watch the boost gauge ....if it reads more than .8 bar your car has been flashed. Were the DV's ever changed .....take a look .....this is one of the first few mods one would do and not remove. If its been flashed and has different DV's then all likelyhood is someone swapped the dual mass flywheel to LWF and the noise would be normal.

My LWFW rattle (flywheel) goes away if I push the clutch pedal down...it is only heard at idle, not while moving except for the very start of first gear...fwiw.

Good luck.

Thanks to all that answered... I'm pretty comfortable that Porsche owes me some work... I'm thinking sync'ros at this point.

I did notice that the clutch pedal has some ware on the outside lip.
