Markski, you can do an easy experiment:

drive your car in 3rd at about 45 mph. Set your cruise
control to keep it there, on a level road. Observe the
RPMs. Then shift to 4th and observe the RPMs, as the
car stays at 45mph. The drop in RPM should be just about
half what the drop would be at 6500 rpm. I base that on
the chart which lists the speed as 90-92 mph at 6500 rpm
in 3rd. You can verify, because at 45 mph in third, the
RPMs should be 3250. If it's not, adjust your speed so it
is 3250. Then the drop when you shift up *will be* half
what it would be if you shifted at twice the RPM.

Al is right too of course. My numbers assume no appreciable drop in speed.

If someone does not want to go up to 6500 RPMs take it to 4K RPMs and tell me what it drops to when u get into 4th...

Shifting at 4k will be a drop of 4000/6500 * 1375 RPM = 915 RPM drop

Shifting at 4000 in 3rd gear it goes down to 3100 in 4th. I just came back from lunch. Its raining here in Houston, as usual, so I could not make any big 3rd/4th pulls.

Mark

Here is your RPM drop chart, this is from your run. Bear in mind this is extracted from your speed so it does not look very neat.

All seems ok. Obviously the scale on the left is RPMs not FWHP...

Nice meeting you last night at RSI. Hope to see you at the Texas Jam. Hey Marek, thanks for the presents!
