Milltek designand fitting questions

fitted a Milltek exhaust today which is different from the Tubi and Design tek I have seen as there are 2 separate mufflers but once they are both fitted they connect together using large ring which sits inside the join and then a clamp is fitted over the top of the join, the clamp is tightened up and untill it seals the join.

I am not sure if I have been sent the wrong size ring but the fit did not seem great and the exhaust blew a little at the join, I used some exhaust sealant and really tightened it up and all seems fine but I am not sure about the design.

anyone else think this? surely there is a better way to join the 2 mufflers?
I am wondering if I was meant to joint the 2 mufflers off of the car and then fit as one item instead of 2? cananyonewith experience comment.

on the plus side it sounds great, very stock but louder and a bit more aggressive

cheers

Lee

Lee, I had the same muffler and installed it myself. I had some fit problems that were resolved by a little tweaking, but I still had the exhaust leak from the center donut. A generous, and I mean generous application of the sealant included in the kit solved the problem. It worked fine til I decided to go to a larger kit and had to sell the Miltek.Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

I cant help thinking I was meant to make the join while the exhausts were both off the car and then fit as one.

Might give it a try today

Cheers
