It's certainly an easy car to drive just like driving the boxter, until you put your foot in it, then you jut have to get used to the extra power/performance... My wife is NOT a performance car person, but I'd let her drive mine anywhere, any time, because it is that easy to just "cruise" down the road at 55mph in.

If you buy it, you won't regret it.

My 996tt is my fourth pcar....and best so far. You don't need to drive a non-turbo 996 before you own a tt. But they do demand respect, and you need to approach the limits gradually and carefully. This is way more car than the C4S, and you will be very happy if you choose to buy one. A test drive of any car you plan to buy is advisable. Good luck with your search.

This is my first porsche, I used to own a CTS-V. I liked that car, was fast and nice lines. I can honestly say that I love the turbo. I debated on getting a C4S and then stepping up to a turbo later down the road. I said to myself why the hell wait, I'll just be driving the non-turbo wishing it was one.

I went from not owning a Porsche for 25 years ,to inheriting a supercharged 993. At first it seemed beyond fast, then real fast, then, to I would like another 100 HP. The boost is addicting. That's why I had to have a turbo. Then I thought I wanted a 993TT. Then I saw my new 996TT and fell in love and bought it. You will adjust to the power. I said to myself, why wait? And I didn't. Go for it! Only drawback, you will never want a NA Porsche again.

I don't think it's too much of jump coming from your current car- a least you have being driving a sports car.
Go for the turbo- it's a completely different animal than an non turbo 911. You'll never look back
