X50 packge
open the trunk and on the underside of the hood there should be a sticker from the factory that lists all the options on the car. if the car has the x50 option, you will see it listed on the list of options.

I suppose 'all the right parts' could be added, but then it is just a modded car. NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
But then you wonder who did it, what SW is it running, what really is the performance.
Either it has the X50 from the factory, or it doesn't- IMHO.

A little off the topic of the original question, but all things considered, IMHO, the standard 996TT tranny is sufficiently "beefy". Look at all the non-X50 modded cars, running 600HP, 700HP and more on the standard transmission. Many of these cars have endured multiple 1/4 mile passes, track miles and a fair share of street miles with no issues. Although a stronger transmission is a great bonus, I am not sure you actually need it with this platform. By comparison, the 993TT would bend the input shaft on a few hard street launches - Porsche did a great job improving this area. The only problem it seems is that some cars suffer from the 2nd gear pop-out, but that does not seem to affect the strength of the transmission.
