Ripped or Not at Dealer?

I took my 02 996TT into the local dealer to have front brakes and warranty work done.

Warranty (NOT) - The clutch was stiff to push in, really stiff in the morning (no jokes please). The dealer said it was the "Pressure Accumulator", and will NOT be covered under warranty. Part = $155.93 plus labor of $465. = Total of $620 to solve the clutch issue. The dealer further said that this is a wear item and will need to be replace din the future that is why Porsche doesn't cover it......Did I get ripped? Should this be a warranty issue?

Brakes (Front Only) -
Brake disk @ $204 each x 2 = $408
Set of Pads = $232.98
Brake wear Conta = $17.19
Parts total = $676
Labor = $310
Total on Brakes $887
Brake oil flush = $141

I am just looking for some feedback - I thought at least the Press Accum would have been covered....It's tough to tell what is warranty...Was the price in line for the front brakes?

do u have extended warranty?

the brake job seems high but that's typical dealer's rate. check around next time before u do it.

i can't tell u if ur clutch would be warrantied because i know some dealers would warranty it if the ''relationship'' is there. however, u should ask the service writer to show u in writing that it is not a warranty item. btw, the labor rate seems typical for dealer as well.

I had my accumulator replaced under factory warranty when I had the same symptoms. I would call my credit card company and stop pay if the dealer doesn't warranty it.

Would have been nice to machine the rotors at $40 verses replace them.

Yeah, you got ripped on both........now WHY are you going to a dealer for work any decent indy can do? The only thing I go to a Porsche dealer for are those things I couldn't diagnose myself.......mainly computer issues.

Yep, the aftermarket warranty assumes almost everything is a wear item

Prices are inline for a dealership..

Understand you will pay more at a dealership they have higher overhead etc .

In our area most of the independent shops which are at the dealer level and know what they are doing are within $5-$10 per hour labor of the dealership.

Most aftermarket extended warranties will not and do not cover the pressure vessel.
Be careful with the "extended warranty" myth's...

Just my .02 cents being on both sides of the fence.

On the brake job, it looks high by about 50%....but I haven't had one done on this car yet. I did have an accumulator put on, parts and labor were $268
