new zo6 vs tt
new zo6 vs tt
just left corvette care in sacto area....owner was at sears point sun. and said the p cars were being passed on the outside in the top turns and ofcourse on the strights coming down the hill can this be true ???? the new vett is about 28hundred vs 3300 on the ps .. are we slower than the zo6s???? tell me true
Sorry its true. Thay are faster. If the Z06 was a Porsche it would cost $125000.
Mass production= lower price.
The Z06 is the best bang for the buck you can purchase. It will outtrack most cars that cost 2 times as much.
At the end of the day it comes down to what you like the best.

What are you comparing? Apples to apples or not?
I run with the new Z06's all the time. They are awesome cars!! With a good driver and hoosiers damn near unbeatable!! vs stock 996 TT dont have a chance, there told ya true............but
our car (996TT) with a good ECU flash, good exhaust, good coilovers and corner balanced, GT3 sway bar in the rear, good track brake pads and fluid, cup tires or hoosier, and drop about 200 pound with GT3 seats and harnesses and you being a great driver. Well then you are equal. No better no worse then it is game on and welcome to my weekends..........PS I love my car and I drive the Z06's alot and also have alot of students with th vettes, and MUCH prefer my TT.
my real world experience, your results my vary!
Also your guys comments about p cars getting passed all day couldnt have meant all turbos??

Doesn't it come down to the driver most of the time? If you put Juan Pablo Montoya in a TT and Joe Blow in a Z06 wouldn't the TT be faster? Sometimes I think people put too much emphasis on the car and not the driver.

I have owned both and they are both awesome cars. If you really care about racing and tracking your car, one will be cheaper than the other and the cheaper one in stock form is faster (with equal drivers). But if you are going to do just a few track events a year and street drive the car the other 200 days of the year that you will drive it, get what feels most comfortable to you. I am driving the one that is most fun TO ME at this point....but if I got on a track with a very skilled driver of a stock 996TT, he would most surely beat me as I do not have much track experience.
At the end of the day, get what you like and enjoy driving on the street because that is where most of us drive them. If you want great speed (not necessarily the fastest) with great build quality and are willing to pay the extra $$$$ to get it, the Porsche cannot be beat. The Z06 is an awesome beast that is getting better in terms of build quality but it DOES NOT have the refinement of a Porsche. Its that simple.

A stock 996 TT is not comparable to a stock Z06, this should not be hard to understand considering there is a newer model Turbo, 997 (which can barely keep up) out now.
But you put some good drivers with a few 996 TT's that have a couple of goodies and it's on!!!! A 3200lbs 500 hp TT can give any Z06 a run for their money (all that is needed at that point is a rear sway bar)

In the end for me it wasn't lack of refinement that made it easy for me to sell the Z but the superior development of the Porsche. In the Z06 the seats are pretty bad, the brakes don't take to the track well, the TPMS is a PITA, heat can be an issue and so on. All of those items can be addressed fairly easily with money but it's where the many years they have developed the 911's shows. By and large any 911 coupe will run a hard track day with little complaint.
After having the Z for 10 months I was still amazed by how much power it made. Drive the one you like. All of us have probably seen pro drivers in an Elise wax pretty good Z and tt drivers.

Besides, modding corvettes generally turns them to crap, and all kinds of things start falling apart (if they havent already). You can mod a TT and not skip a beat.
People have known for CENTURIES that more "horse power" generally means faster transportation. Vettes have a DISPLACEMENT advantage as well. So you run a 6 liter twin turbo and see what the Porsche does? You'd be running 1000hp without breaking a sweat. Size matters. The Vette has a super package. Porsche is the ultimate gentleman's sportscar, though... Vettes will never ave the same image. An X50'd 996TT with ecu-flash on race gas is a crushingly fast animal, and it's the Z06 equivalent (PLUS!) until you put a decet driver in EITHER car.
thanks guys after haveing 6 corvetts and three p cars i have to say i like the p car better.... you see a kazillion vetts on the road and very few p cars .. and its always the very few part that i have liked plus my wife is no longer a corvette fan...
It depends on how good of a driver you are and how bad of a driver the Z06 guy is.
Z06's are fast as ****. They weigh less than the stock TT and have almost 100 hp more. Like Tom said, a TT with the proper suspension, brake pads, a flash, an exhaust (that will got it to 500hp) and a little weight loss you can beat one. The driver makes a big difference. The TT is an easier car to drive fast too.
