turbos, what is everyone's thought on the 996TT vs 965 vs 930?
I drove my 965 the other day for the 1st time since buying the 996tt and it brought a HUGE smile to my face. I drove the 996tt last nite and do not get me wrong, it's a great car but I without question get more enjoyment out of my 965.
I am about to build my 996tt but even with that it was not the power difference in the two, I definatley felt/feel more emotion behind the wheel of my 965, Vickie even laughed and said I looked like I had a new toy once we hit the interstate.

I could see why you would get more if a smile from the 965. I don't think it has anything to do with how many turbos it has either. If I was looking for a $60k Turbo Porsche right now, it would be a 965T or a 993TT, not a 996TT.
What up Luis?
I agree, I was in the middle of trading my car for the 996tt and I snapped out of it and thought what the hell am I doing!
They are apples and oranges

You can build a 996TT to be a monster, don't get me wrong. Out of the box, the 965T feels like a real Porsche is supposed to, where a stock 996TT feels very luxurious and heavy. With the right amount of tweaks, both can be very rewarding to different people for different reasons. For me, I prefer 2wd, no PASM and no traction control so I can do my thing with it.
An opposing view...I gave up my '78 930 for 2 reasons:
1. It was not a cab....and there is nothing like a turbo cab, and
2. The power & lag...just too much for all around driving experience.
My 930 was just too much car for street runs. My cab puts huge smiles on my face...but I have done a few upgrades!

My car is a daily driver in a snowed in place.....awd....so 993tt or later for me. Just my equation. I wanted a more reliable car...so 996tt simply because they are by default younger....the 993tt's are super, don't get me wrong. The 997TT is still too close to retail.

I miss my 91 911 Turbo.
If I could have only one though it would be the one I have.
I will eventually buy another 91,92 or 94 turbo
P.S. I have also owned an 86 930 and a 96 993TT.
