check engine light
does the check engine light comes on to remind of maintenance? I have 25590 miles and the light popped on.. bringing to dealer monday.... aghh.. hopefully nothing major....
Yep - this means the computer/OBDII diagnostics have detected a problem and thrown an error code - you need the dealer to read it and find out what the problem is.
PS: My 2001 TT threw a code 3 weeks ago, I took it to my dealer, the code was caused by a bad boost leak that had developed; car currently still at dealer with the engine out being fixed
Thanks goodness it is a CPO'd car with warranty!

), and b) hardly any parts ever in stock for 911 turbo's so everything has to be ordered in from Germany. The first problem they found was some gasket in the induction that was leaking - however they fixed that ( 1+ week later when the part arrived!) and boost was still leaking, and they couldn't find where. So that was when they decided to pull the engine out, which has now been done. Everything has been pressure tested and they are now saying that most of the induction plastic piping has to be replaced as there are small cracks that are leaking boost under high pressure (can be seen clearly with the smoke test), plus the DVs are also not sealing fully (although that is only minor at this stage). Fortuneately, it's mostly being fixed now under warranty (except for the DVs which they are arguing are not covered!), and I should be back on the road in a week or so.
Has anyone ever had this problem with the induction pipes/hoses and gaskets going off and leaking?
My car is a 2001 6 speed, has only 37.5k miles, and other than this issue otherwise is in pristine condition mechanically and in every other way, has complete maintenance records, and was a one owner, Porsche certified car when I bought it. I am struggling to understand why those sorts of parts should just fail in a car with low mileage and only 6 years old? It is a little concerning......
Cheers,
Beej
I havent taken the car into the dearlership yet. I realized I have a warranty on my car but just needs to be transfered over to my name.. So waiting for this to happen. I will report once I get news asap

It reaslly helps when you can provide the actual fault code #
for example:
P0491
Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 – Below Limit
Possible fault cause
♦ Secondary air injection pump is not triggered
♦ Secondary air injection pump does not work
♦ Air supply lines restricted
♦ Electric change-over valve does not function
♦ Air change-over valve does not function
♦ Vacuum system leaking
P0410, 80 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 – Below
Limit:

MY best guess is a leak!

They just worked on getting to the 30k maintenance. They will have more information on the check engine light tomorrow. Since they have everything apart... Anything I should change??? Intake??? Pipes??? etc...
