'01 996TT Clutch Mod...I think it is time.

Now that it seems that I may have to replace my clutch after 62k miles, I am thinking of using this as an "excuse" to perform my 1st mod. What is the most cost effective clutch mod?

Give Kevin a call at UMW. His Sachs GT3RS clutch package w/ LWFW is very nice indeed.

I second the UMW option. It just works perfectly. My mechanic was very impressed with the completeness...bolts, etc. LWFW for me was a no brainer....more psuedohp.....better revs. Now, I don't know what I would do with a standard FW....but that is just me.

See my thread with video on rennlist on the LWFW from UMW.

I am VERY happy with mine.

buying my used clutch (only 1k miles before i upgraded to GT700) - drove better than stock, slightly lower (better imo) engagement point. it really made the car a pleasure to drive.

everyone seems to rave about the UMW clutch set-up too; probably can't go wrong w/ either.

UMW clutch kit is awesome, just make sure you hear one first. It is noisy when the car is warmed up.

Thanks for the great feedback. What type of noise is expected with the UMW? I have not been in a vehicle with this kit.

There is plenty of old posts about the LWF kit if you do a quick search. The noise is like bolts rattling in a tin can.

The noise only occurs when the clutch is disengaged and is louder with the AC on. There is no noise with the clutch engaged. I have a cab and it does not bother me...considering the better performance.

Bolts in a can....hmmm. I take it that the sound is a minor inconvenience for the increased perfromance, and is most noticeable at idle.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and ride in a LWFW car. I USED to think getting it was a no-brainer.......not after riding in a car with one. The almost stalling crap getting into 1st gear every time ruined any desire I had......

I honestly don't understand the whole "what sort of noise does it make" questions...it doesn't rattle that bad. It's just a little louder than normal.
