K24/K16 Hybrid turbo
If you don't mind the resonance, my Fabspeed Supersport, Fabspeed Sport Track bypass pipes, x-50 tips, and an extra 100 cell cat should be off the car and ready to sell. I'd keep it, but I'm too much of a *****
Here is my opinion: Try the Protomotive K24/18G with dual fuel pumps and injectors. Instant throttle response and immediate spool. With this package the 24/18's may or may not spool quicker than a ZC 16/24, but it is practically identical and possibly quicker - it's a tough call, it's that close - but the advantage is that you will have a much faster car. My car with the Protomotive 700 package revs like a car with the LWF and I have the dual mass flywheel
. It would rev unbelievably quick with a LWF. Seriously, it's that responsive. The K16/24 is a great package and drives extremely well, however, it does have it's limitations. Like Oak stated, they run out of steam. Quick spool is great, but once you have it, you need more to follow or your in slow motion. When I had my K16/24 set-up, I did a highway pull against a Protomotive 600 (K24/18G without the fuel system). Starting at about 4000 RPM's - on signal, the Proto car leaped ahead of me by at least 2 car lengths like I was standing still and continued to pull for a brief moment before we shut down at about 100MPH (I did have a couple hundred pounds more weight with passenger and luggage, but even empty - I doubt the outcome would have been much different). This demonstrated to me how the larger turbos are faster. I have had a few tunes: stock, FVD stage 2, SG K16/24 w FVD stage 4 software and now Protomotive 700. The former packages were all very nice, drove well, etc., but never had all the power I wanted, nor the throttle response, all the time. The fueled, K24 based car is a different animal - it's nasty, but in a very nice way and it spools instantly when you give it gas. In tight quarters, the 16/24's seem quick, but get them on the highway or a long straight and the car suddenly does not seem as fast. The 24/18's are very similar in tight quarters, but get them on the open road and the road doesn't seem so open any longer because everything is happening faster and at a much more intense level - IMO, they provide a much more exciting drive. If you want a really fast car, I would skip the 16/24's and go to the next level. If you can be happy with nice and very respectfully quick and don't crave an intense adrenlin rush when you squeeze the throttle, then 16/24's will be good for you. I am not sure about the other tuners, but the protomotive K24 based cars WITH the fuel system/Hitachi MAF have no more lag and possibly less than a K16/24 and a lot more top end. It was fun going through the various stages and I enjoyed each level, but I've got to say...once you experience 700 HP with quick response you will never go back to a 16/24. I do not mean any disrespect to k16/24 owners as it is an extremely potent package and very rewarding to drive - I am just trying to relay my experience in terms of comparative "spool" and "lag" in hopes that maybe someone will be able to make a better choice for themselves based on my experience.
From my experience, I would say - Don't be afraid of "lag" in a larger turbo. I was and have come to realize it does not have to be and if you choose the right set-up you can have the best of both worlds.

since you have the fvd ecu they will upgrade your programming for free, just need to buy the fvd racing k26/24 and 5 bar fpr. it will rock. anything else is over kill. simple and easy. fvd has an aggessive 1.1-1.2 program that is not offered commercially. no need to buy after market wg's it's programmed.
John,
Great writeup and I have to agree same thing with the GT700 package from Evoms. It spools quick like a smaller turbo but has the power in the upper RPM range like bigger turbo's. It is noticeably faster with the Hitachi MAF.
I think 700 hp is the new 500 hp! Sure seems like more and more people are getting there!

What happens to my warranty
Thanks to everyone for all the great information. A second reason I was looking at the 16K/24K was it is packaged in a stock turbo housing, so the $stealership will never know it's upgraded, so I don't risk warranty issues. Has anyone ever had any warranty items denied due to a huge turbo??
I would forget that idea... If you have any sort of repair claim that
is worth any money, you can bet Porsche is going to examine the car
well enough to at least try to determine the cause, and reflashes and
turbos that have been replaced may well be found. In fact, you might
have to reflash back to stock to even pass the initial examination,
and with your louder and to-be-discovered hacked exhaust, and
the fact that it will probably run like dog meat with the stock flash
unless you re-install the stock turbos, you're looking at a lot of work
even before you can show up at the dealer to claim a warranty issue...

Yeah, you really should upgrade from those 16/24s and sell them to some worthy soul...
I can't wait to drop those 16/24s into my baby...

I dunno ... but the UMW Stage 3 sounds good just about now...
Some dude named KPG posted this a lil while ago ... seems... appetizing...
If this is the dynosheet for a Stage 3A ... I can only imagine what a Stage 3B is like ... better yet... a Stage 4
