seats and knockoffs
cheap seats are not DOT certified and not safe in general. if you want GT3 seats buy GT3 seats and then dont worry. not the place to try to save money. would be like buying cheap tires or seatbelts.
I was given some as a loaner until my Porsche OEM GT3 seats arrived. My seats were on backorder for 3 months and I was pushing, so I was told they found a seat for me to use in the meantime. When it arrived, it was an import CF GT3 seat. The quality bucket of the seat and leather itself was good. Not as good as the Recaro, but still nice. The bucket seems to be as strong as OEM. The problem was the brackets are 1/2 half the thickness of the OEM (you can get BK), the bolts were mild steel (you can use hardened steel) and most concerning was the threaded bolt recepticle in the seat where the brackets mount (no way to address this). Just looking at it, I felt as though I would not want to rely on it in an accident. It appeared that it may just "pull out" if stressed, as there was some cracking around it from drilling or something. I don't really know for sure how strong the threaded inserts are, but I do know I have much greater piece of mind knowing I have Porsche / Recaro OEM seats installed. Personally, I would not buy the imports. They don't seem as safe.
