Oil question
Oil question
Dealer puts 0w-40 in 996TT. I am having trouble finding a place to buy it. Do you think it's okay to top with 5w-30. I'm at one bar above the lower line...will it take a full quart? Or should I wait to go to the dealer and buy it there? I don't really care too much about the markup...well a little.
I think each bar represents 1/4 of a liter, which is just a hair more than a 1/4 of a quart so you should definitely be able to add a whole quart. I bought some 0w-40 at an Advance Auto Parts store. I ordered a case off the internet from a store called autobarn.com as well.
of course DO NOT mix different brands of oil.
The most significant aspect of modern oil is the additives package- and they can vary greatly in chemistry. Mixing oil brands or oil series should be avoided at all costs. If you must, drain and change at next possible time.

My local AutoZone is a little challenged intelligence wise. They had 5 quarts and I wanted a couple of cases. They were not going to order any 0-40 until the 5 quarts were sold and would not order me two cases. Hello, Anyone Home???
I went to Kragen and they said they would match the special and he rung it up at 6 qts and the M1 filter, time two for $60. That’s 12 qts and two filters for $60 and tax. It ends up being 3.33 a qt.

. LOL
