The rubber seal has nothing to do with this! My point is that the diameter of the connection is different to that of the Y pipe. i.e. If you were to make a perfect fitting connection for the intercoolers ends, I guarantee this would not be able to fit into the Y pipe end.

Andyk79, in the world of Mitsubishis, we used T-Clamps which are heavy duty clamp that will surely do the job. Just do a search. They should be easy to get at a hardware store. The problem with the stock clamps are that if u torque too much they will break. If the pipes are different sizes u cannot tighten the stock clamps enough as they will break. Checkout another post on this site that mentions the problems associated with the 2001

there aren't any t-band clamps available that fit correctly.

I was wondering if EVOMS has anything that would help with this issue. I mean come on you pay good money for these boost hoses and you get grief.

lol, maybe I'm missing the point here!!!

Is it the hose coming away from the machined connection or the connection coming away from the stock or Gt2 Intercooler?

Stevo I believe 4G64T is not on the same page. I am talking about the connection to the intercooler keeps on popping off. I hope this make things a clearer for everyone.

Hi Andy, yip this is what I was on about!

The best thing as I explained a few posts ago is have a very close examination and see how much play is in there.

Good luck

Turbonetics T-Bolt Clamps is what 4G64T is referring to (I'm also an old-school Mitsu guy). Available at Jegs, Summit, and Turbonetics.

These will hold any amount of boost you throw at them, however you run the real risk of either breaking or deforming anything you clamp due to the high torque ability.

These are useful only if you are using the EVOMS intercoolers where you remove the machined ends of your hoses and clamp directly to the IC pipe. You can use them on the turbo outlet, but IMHO it's overkill for stock turbos.

the band width are too wide on those to where the machined barbs are on the turbo and the barbs will eventually cut into the hose.

If you look at this picture, do you mean the red hose is pulling off the metal end or that the metal end is pulling out of the turbo. The second right?

I believe he's talking about the metal part coming/popping off the turbo/intercooler

no room between the firewall and all connections to even access if you could. even if you could the hardware is too bulky, the fenderwell is in the way.

5/8" width band on the t-band hose is still too thick. it may clamp ok for awhile but the clamping/squeezing pressures due to the oversized width of the band over the machined barbs on the turbo would eventually slice into the hose. make sense? no?

Yes the metal end is popping off of the intercooler and not the hose off of the metal connection end.
