Fire Extinguisher mount - How/Where??
Fire Extinguisher mount - How/Where??
I have my first event coming up this weekend and they require a fire extinguisher on board in a metal bracketed mount. I've got the extinguisher and it has a metal mount. Where do you guys put it? Further, this is by no means a "race car" and this extinguisher will not be staying. What is the best way to mount so afterwards you can't even tell it was there? Are there mounts that are safe yet not so permanant as drilling holes?
Any suggestions please.
Thanks.

If you have GT3 seats, you can use a BK fire extinguisher mount and it will mount like the picture below. If you have sport seats there are two tabs facing forward under the seat cushion that have holes in them. I fabricated two steel pieces to mount to the tabs and long enough to then mount to the extinguisher braket and that worked well, too. This method placed the extinguisher in the same spot as the BK brakets in the picture below. I am not sure if the regular seats have these tabs, though.
John,
Not sure if I have the "sport seats" or not, but I did look under the seats and there is a plate attached to the seat that is about 4-5 inches long but is tucked way too far under there to mount directly to it. So I have some diamond plate material (about 1/8") that I'm going to cut out and fab up as an "extension" if you will to that seat plate so as to push the mounting out from under the seat so much. Hard to explain unless you've crawled under there. Anyway, I'll try and take some pics along the way so if the info is needed by anyone later. I kinda suck at resizing them and what not though
Anyhow, thanks for the info I think this will work. Well it better as something needs to be mounted by 7:00 Sunday morning...
