Upgrading my TT
Yes - clutch is broken in and I've learned how to modulate this beast. I've been pretty busy with work these days as we've just opened up a new Data Center in Santa Clara and the activities have increased to a great extent.
A few observations - but a little background on where I was and where I am today.
Previous configuration
Stock K16 Turbos
Stage II EVO flash
EVO DVs
Stock clutch - mostly worn at 30k miles
Tubi exhaust
Current configuration
GT28 turbos
GT640 EVO flash
EVO K24 headers
Stage III clutch
OEM flywheel
Shark Werks GT2 clutch actuator retrofit
Samco hoses
9ff Variotune exhaust
Seat Of Pants Observations
The clutch took a few hundred miles to break in, but now that I'm used to it, I really like the new feel and it is solid and can hold the new power. I really have to give credit to Alex and James for stearing me towards this clutch setup including the GT2 actuator setup - much better feel for clutch engagement now than ever before.
The performance is so different than what I had previously. These turbo's spool up so much easier and sooner than before - it's incredible how soon these things come on and so much quicker than the K16s previously - the lag is so minimal now it's incredible.
Now when I put my foot down and call for power, it's right there and comes on so strong and quickly - all I can say is WOW
I've got to thank a few people for help in making this come together for me:
Alex and James: for putting all the pieces together and making this work. Also for their tireless effort with EVO and staying late Saturday night tying it all up the ends and putting up with my nagging and perpetual presence looking over their shoulders while they worked.
Suman: (Highhats) for selling me his previously owned GT28 tubo's
Stephen: (Imagine Auto) for helping with the Turbo's and with EVO
Chris: (Roadsterdoc) for selling me his previously owned 9ff Variotune
Mike: from EVO for providing Alex the GT640 flash

Nuisance
? Please teach other people to be a nuisance because if that's what a nuisance is, then the more the merrier
You really do have a quick-spooling and fast TT! I think when you had said you were used to heavy-style clutches in the past and didn't like the stocker it made sense to try this power-assist delete thing a go. It seems like it worked out. It's not for everyone but some of us really find it easier to engage/feel this way....
Additionally, there aren't all those other pu$$y clutch assist items to fail in the future

Thanks for the great advice.
I'm with you though. I am so much happier with my clutch this way sans the leaky-****e hyrdaulic assist. There are so many 01-03s now that have had the slave cylinders go out it's not even funny
Can you please post more info about the gt2 actuator setup? I have a 2002 TT and it seems like the clutch actuator is bad. I need to replace it. What are the benifits with going with a gt2 actuator setup vs. a stock one.
Thanks!
Thanks!
