Upgrading my TT
Upgrading my TT
On Monday, I'm placing my TT in the hands of Alex at Sharkwerks for care and feeding. He's already outfitted me with some upgrades a few months back, but the mod bug is addictive and I'm craving more power.
He'll be setting me up with the GT28 turbo's I purchased from Suman with an assortment of other goodies including the 9ff exhaust from Roadsterdoc. The end result will be around 640 HP.
I purchased this car six short months ago and I've driven it daily, and each day I've smiled to and from the office.
I can't wait for the call from Alex telling me she's done
The covered hauler had to park down the street at the local grade school since my streets are private and difficult for a big rig to get around. I still remember the day in March when my wife and I took the walk to the school:

GT 28's
Are those the turbo's used on the Evo GT640 kit? (disco potato)
If they are, you will enjoy the 0 lag and explosive torque that will make
your smile a permanent expression.
Have fun and enjoy your new mods.
By the way, Alex installed all my mods as well. Great guy to work with!
And you get a cool Sharkwerks decal for your car. LOL

I give you two weeks of enjoyment before you take the fueling kit plunge and go full out gt700!!!!!!! LOL
Good luck bud. And make sure you water cool those turbos. It does make a difference.

Thanks guys - It's becoming a habit watching all the high HP cars, upgrades and Kills and thinking about my next move.
I'm looking forward to the end result and I'm sure Alex and James will take good care of me and my car.
Staying with the stock fuel system for now - budgetary issues. More mods down the road after I build up a tolerance to the performace this setup gives me...
I'm adding the Stage 3 clutch and sticking with the factory flywheel. Adding headers, 9ff exhaust, a hose kit and flash. Already have the DVs so I should be good to go for a bit.
Yep - same turbo's as the GT640 and 700 kit.
Alex is the man. Focused on the right things, willing and able to point me in the right direction.
You bet I'll report back - how could I not
I may dyno some day, but numbers don't mean that much to me - my butt dyno is what I'm focused on at this time.
I hope not - my bank account can't handle it right now

We'll see you bright and early Monday and get her going GT40-style! I'm interested to see what the exhaust turns out like. At least with the switch it should hopefully take care of any drone.
!
Yes - clutch is broken in and I've learned how to modulate this beast. I've been pretty busy with work these days as we've just opened up a new Data Center in Santa Clara and the activities have increased to a great extent.
A few observations - but a little background on where I was and where I am today.
Previous configuration
Stock K16 Turbos
Stage II EVO flash
EVO DVs
Stock clutch - mostly worn at 30k miles
Tubi exhaust
Current configuration
GT28 turbos
GT640 EVO flash
EVO K24 headers
Stage III clutch
OEM flywheel
Shark Werks GT2 clutch actuator retrofit
Samco hoses
9ff Variotune exhaust
Seat Of Pants Observations
The clutch took a few hundred miles to break in, but now that I'm used to it, I really like the new feel and it is solid and can hold the new power. I really have to give credit to Alex and James for stearing me towards this clutch setup including the GT2 actuator setup - much better feel for clutch engagement now than ever before.
The performance is so different than what I had previously. These turbo's spool up so much easier and sooner than before - it's incredible how soon these things come on and so much quicker than the K16s previously - the lag is so minimal now it's incredible.
Now when I put my foot down and call for power, it's right there and comes on so strong and quickly - all I can say is WOW
I've got to thank a few people for help in making this come together for me:
Alex and James: for putting all the pieces together and making this work. Also for their tireless effort with EVO and staying late Saturday night tying it all up the ends and putting up with my nagging and perpetual presence looking over their shoulders while they worked.
Suman: (Highhats) for selling me his previously owned GT28 tubo's
Stephen: (Imagine Auto) for helping with the Turbo's and with EVO
Chris: (Roadsterdoc) for selling me his previously owned 9ff Variotune
Mike: from EVO for providing Alex the GT640 flash
