Back in a 996
Back in a 996
Hey Guys,
After 4 months in physical therapy and a few months of searching, I finally found my replacement car for my wonderfully setup MK I 99 Aero. I replaced it with a clean slate bone stock 99 MK I Aero with 31K, silver with LSD and a few more Porsche options than my old car had.
I flew down to Raleigh yesterday and drove the car back and was absolutely impressed with how quiet, smooth, rattle free and comfortable the stock 996 is. I'm very pleased as this car is very clean.
After a slow and still not over recovery at least I'm back in to a Porsche. I can't wait to start amassing parts for her surgery over the winter. In essence, I plan on building what I had before or pretty close to it.
Mod plans:
PSS9
GT3 Control Arms and Sways
Sport seats
3 spoke steering wheel
GT3 winglets
lightwieght wheels
Fabspeed exhaust
SSK
Probably 3rd radiator
I'll post pics later tonight or tomorrow when I get home from the office as I was a bit tired from the drive home and my camera battery was dead.
Pete

Hey Teuton,
Glad to hear about your new 996 and the planned mods. I live in Arlington, VA and also have a stock 996. If you ever want to get together and talk mods/parts, etc. Send me a PM.
Good luck!

Congrats on your replacement car. Post some pics
. Do you still have the GT3 control arms and sway bars from the previous car? I'm thinking of doing a similar setup.

No, I didn't make it to Bowie. I was out of town all last week and finally had the chance to wash the car (considering all of the bugs I killed on the way home from NC picking up the car). I also was very negligent on some yard work that needed to be done so I had to handle that as well.
I finally have pics of my new toy. I can't wait to start collecting parts and my wallet to get thinner. Pics with my car and a friends Mk II.

Decision to get back into a 3.4
You didn't cave into the banter that the 3.4 is somehow cursed by the 3rd Riech? Anyway, can you provide your rationale for not taking the opportunity to go with a 3.6 or 3.8? is it purely to get the lighter 996 and LSD?
