Car Transporters?

Anyone know anything about DAS auto shippers? They were recomended to me from the Player's Run, since I will be flying back home from LA. I was quoted a price for a door to door enclosed transport at around $1500. Sound like a good deal to you guys?

Thanks in advance,

Ed

P.S. Who else is going on this fiasco with me? We should get together beforehand in NY.

Stay away from DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers). Their name is a misnomer. It turns out that their "enclosed" transporters are not true enclosed (open on the bottom, with canvas sides, so all the rode gunk gets on your car), and they move your car from one truck to another, sometimes using third parties. If that isn't enough bad news, they damaged the bumper on my last Carrera.

Don't skimp on transporting your car. Use only top tier companies. I've used Horseless Carriage a few times with great results. Intercity Lines has a great reputation--Porsche uses them to transport the Carrera GT and most of their other cars to dealers.

You may want to check out this website about their reviews.

I would go for "Intercity Lines". Their quote is about the same as DAS but offers the Primary Insurance Coverage. Also, they have very good equipments to move your car. Intercity Lines

From Ohio to S.F was quoted as $1450, Door-to-door, enclosed, primary insurance coverage. The price varies due to the season.... though.

The other company recomended was Horseless Carriage. I think I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow. I tried calling Intercity before and they wanted too much of a window to pick up the car. I get to LA on the 12th and fly out on the 13th at noon, so I'm on a pretty tight time scale.

Ed I can't remember who I used and I probably wouldn't recommend them anyway. I paid $750? from Texas to Jersey not enclosed. I think they wanted $1100+ for enclosed but the time frame wasn't good.

I've used Thomas Sunday coast-to-coast. Everything was fine. They are out of PA. They transport a lot of classics.

Cool

Hi Ed,
Call http://www.intercitylines.com. My partner used them to transport his 67 Shelby GT 500 from California and was happy.
Ciao

be careful who you choose. A lot of companies are brokers for the transporters so the person who you talk to or deal with may not necessarily be the person or company who is transporting the car. I learned the hard way.

I have used Concours Auto Transport and found them to be great. No problems. I have used DAS as well and will NEVER make that mistake again. My M5 was to be transported in an "enclosed" trailer. I received it filthy, on a flat bed, with a very damaged front splitter.

As I mentioned above, I've used Horseless Carriage a few times and was very happy with their service.
