It's definately possible...Mk1s are light as hell and with a VR6T or even a built 1.8T running high boost, they'll leave on a stock 996T up until about 150mph.

WOW!!! At first I was thinking surely this is staged, but esp. that night video- they are blowing past traffic! I an still wondering how that VW in the first two videos was hooking up so well with so much power???

I use to own a 2000 New Beetle 1.8T with BT Set-Up and N/A 996's, Ferrari 360 and Aston Martin's and ETC's use to wonder what just happend... Now my 4-Banger with 5-speed only went up to 250 KMPH after that id get passed but untill then i had the laugh. It was'nt all that fast, i made about 364Hp and 434 TQ @ 28 PSI (Daily Driver)... But some of the VR6 with Turbo's or Any VR6 with a Turbo, you would not want to Screw around with...

I should have not sold my bug i miss that thing sometimes...

I am sure there were a few confused looks thrown your way.

lol stop hatin... i just wanted to do something diffrent and it was. My friends and VW guys loved it, even the fact it was a bug... Besides i did find a better car, i bought a 996 C4S and have it for about 2 years now....

My 1.8t made over 500 at the wheels and did beat more then a few 996's in its day .
