Simplest Hardwire Ipod solution
Simplest Hardwire Ipod solution
I read through the other threads but I'm not worried about the extra cables to charge and I also dont want to run through the AUX/Headphone plug in from the Ipod.
So what I'm looking for is to detach my 6 disk CD changer and replace it with a plug in cable that runs to the bottom of my Ipod. Is there such a thing?
Becker 220 (right?) out of a 99 C4

I think this is what I want. Does this just plug in where the CD changer regularly does?

this is the easiest solution, just plug it in the antenna socket of your radio and tune in to an FM station... no static and is a hardwire solution.

I assume you mean it works better than an FM modulator since it plugs directly into the antenna port. You still have the problem of the compression of the audio to fit into FM modulation.
Does anyone actually have this unit installed?
I have a MOST car so I'm desperate for a reasonably priced iPod connection solution.

A couple weeks ago with a few friends I helped out with the hardwiring to antenna socket. Both cars have CDR 220. EZ to do. Test with engine idle and rev. Clear sound, no static, hisses or anything except at high volume level there is a touch of engine noise. But with loop wire filter that should minimize even more. But against, you really have to crank up your volume to hear the noise.
What year were those cars? I'm wondering if anyone has tried it on a MOST based car. I did some Google searches and found that some MOST cars from other manufacturers uses an incompatible antenna connector. I'm wondering how the Porsche is.
Speaking of which, where can I get a tool to remove the radio in a 2004 996? I should just pop it out and see for myself what's back there.

You can buy the key for .99 cents but the shipping charge is 5 bucks. EBAY is the place.
I am new here, but just wanted to throw my two cents in for ipod installation. I suggest checking out 2point5.com that was the first thing I did when I got my 996. It replaces the cigaret ashtray and looks very clean. The best thing is it is installed directly into the radio, so it has CD quality sound.
I believe this setup using RCA plugs to FM modulator then to radio antenna socket. This is what we did with our installations. For $199 that come with cig. astray conversion is not too bad. Our wiring harness came out to $90 without the IPod base. You can choose a few different styles for your base for $30-$60.
