what is the difference internally between the n/a motor and the turbo?

996tt- air cooled case/ water cooled heads
996- water cooled case and heads
way different

 

The TT uses a dry sump oil system (much preferred for tracking, etc.) and it is very easy to get additional HP out of the motor. The 996 NA motor is just about max'ed out with regard to HP increases, unless you add a supercharger...As an example of how different they are, I believe a new 996 engine from PCNA is about $10-$12K vs a TT motor that runs about $30K.
