running speaker wire

I am looking at running speaker wire to all the speakers for a component setup so i can have the crossover mounted in the hood and not cut the factory wiring, also running 2 pair to behind the seat for 2 subs....

i see a blank rubber filler for the truck(hood) to the service area (where the battery is at), that i can modify for this purpose, however i am not sure where i should run the wires to tap into the firewall and into the passenger compartment, how has everyone else done it?

oh and i have a '99 carrera

There is a large grommet behind the battery near the brake mech. You can poke it out with your finger and then take off the piece of insulation that will come with it then put it back in from the outside. it'll give you easy access to under the dash.

Yup, agreed. Right by the brake booster. Hope your still flexible enough to lower yourself under the dash. Not the most fun....

cool! hopefully it has enough room to run everything i need to i was adding up all the wires i will have to run ant it is a TON, here is what i have so far

I will have to run 2 pairs to each of the 4 speaker locations (sub and tweet so the crossover is in the hood - so that is 8 pairs

3 rca's from the head unit (front rear and sub
2 pair - 1 for each 10 inch sub
1 usb wire for the hard drive

so a total of 14 pairs of wires, wow!

oh and i am putting the pioneer slimline 10" behind the seats, link is below, they can use a box as low as .35 cubic feet, just wondering if any one has used these before

Just cut out material from the grommet to provide the room you need. I have six-eight wires I have added. When you are done use silicone caulk to reseal around the wires to it is still air and water tight.

I use a razor knife to cut an X in the grommet. The only problem with ^ is that when you pull those wires out, theres a big hole left.
