Problems and production costs. She ain't what she used to be. Give me a stainless steel pillar with a zip out rear window like '68.

Do any of you critics actually own a current version of the Targa?

I live in the South, and do not have a noticeable greenhouse effect with the shade closed. I think a black car would be as hot or hotter than my car. The A/C in my car works so well I have to turn it down after a short period of time.

Otherwise, the lateral stiffness is similar to a coupe, and with the top and windows open it resembles the experience of a complete open air car. Plus, I can open and close the top at any speed.

Over all, I don't have any problems with mine related to it being a Targa. YMMV.

I'm in So Cal and my Targa does not exhibit any type of "green house effect"
I also like to be able to open and close the top at any speed. It fits my personality and isn't that what its all about?

Come on guys..... I was only kidding about the greenhouse effect ,I'am sure your Targas are great. The question was why don't they sell many Targas? because more people prefer the cab and coupe, simple as that. Wheres your sense of humor?

OK, OK, I guess I was feeling a little picked on. Most of the PCA members in my area haven't ever seen one before. They don't understand a thing about them, and are amazed at how the top works, and that the rear glass opens.

Clearly I chose mine for the reasons "I" had. You are correct that many others chose differently.

For some reasons I see a lot of Targas.

However I know that some are reluctant to the idea of having a glass roof, probably due to the water leaks that occurred in the 993 Targas.

What was the coupe all about?

That question could be asked also, at least in the US. Here, cabs reign king (though not for me). I think most people in the US want the full open air experience, thus cabs are always the strong sellers. I think many people view the Targa as spending pretty much the same money as a cab without getting the full open air experience. Personally, I think they're missing out, and I enjoy the uniqueness of the Targa.

I like the Targas, always have. I think they dont sell that many Targas mainly because they sell for about the same price as 'the full monty' AKA the Cabriolet.
