muffler bypass
I absolutely loved my by-pass pipes for 1 day.
WAY too freaking loud for everyday driving and the drone on the highway at cruising RPMs eventually made me decide NOT to take the car out.
On the flip side, I still love them for track days!

TRy a set of CAT-bypass pipes. Sounds great! $500bucks from fabspeed. Less if you make your own
Was just enough sound for me and saved 10-12 lbs. I bought the Auto-Enginuity tool so I can reset my light when it occasionally (20-30 starts) goes off.

And is the light "just a light" or does it actually change anything????
On a turbo car you wont loose any torque from using bypass pipes. the turbos' turbine housing is the only backpressure needed for the engine. For NA porsche you lose a little torque BUT save about 20 lbs off the *** of the car with even the lightest aftermarket setup. It will be loud though.
The light is a fault code when the computer detects an emission error. I just resest it. I think there is a way to just reset it, but I want to check to make sure the fault code is not something else.
I just thinks muffler bypass is simply... too loud... heard my friend's 996 C2 3.6 without the rear muffler... omfg...
P.S. My Gemballa exhaust is abnormally quiet... almost sound like stock with a little louder deeper tone above 4k rpm...

Why play games? You want a throaty, hard core sound and loose pounds and save $ then Fabspeed muffler bypass is my drug of choice. Watch fabspeed's video and you can listen to the demonstration. Is is too loud, No! I do 80 on the highway with the top down and the windscreen and talk on my cell phone and it's quiet, comfortable. No prob. I love it!
Here's a link to a post I made on Rennlist about a quick and easy way to find out if you'll like bypass pipes or not:

The bypass pipes are really a matter of personal taste as far as the sound goes. On the performance side, I think the loss of torque is offset by the weight loss - nothing that is hugely significant either way.

CO79 we need more enthusiasts like you here on this forum. Way to many people complaining about drone and how they can't talk inside their cabin. I was just riding in a 997 S equipped with our muffler bypass pipes; and for some reason I couldn't identify with others when they speak of this horrendous drone and how their ears bleed when in the car. More power to you CO79 and the rest of the riders who run muffler bypass pipes be it Fabspeed or any other aftermarket manufacturer. You are a dying breed.

Complete straight through exhaust system: ) Car needs to sound the part. The weight savings from the mod are just to much for me to ignore
