muffler bypass

Is a muffler bypass just WAYY too loud for use? I am just looking at mufflers, amazed at the insanely high price, and came across the 200 dollar bypass, just curious if anyone here had one and their opinion

You can swing by my place in North Dallas and borrow mine. They are loud as hell. I love them but I could even talk to my client on the phone so I pulled them. You will lose a good deal of torque as well. That may hurt you on those Tollway sprints.

Pm me if you want to borrow them.

I know our cars are different (mine is a Boxster) I had a muffler bypass (video at ) It was loud!!! I put a muffler back on within 6 months. But I loved the sound in order to get the best of both world I am investigating a different solution

Electronic cutout valves. I will be able to open bypass the muffler from 0% to 100%, well maybe not 100% because the QTP design does not close out the muffler pipe. But this one does:

The full flow. has two cutouts.

If anyone has an opinion on this possible muffler idea please chime in.

Highway - LOVE IT
Around town - Not a fan(usually)
Loss of low-end torque but really screams in the higher RPMs.

I did the bypass on on my C2, I too was amazed how stupid the cost on was new mufflers.........even worse is the ones for mt TT, anyways you will NOT loose any TQ and to be honest the intake is a waste of money. There is not much power left in the NA motors, if you spend anything on it it will be a big disappointment. Only two ways to get good power out of the car and thats supercharging it..........and of course the obvious is to trade up for a TT

I have yet to hear an aftermarket muffler sound as good as my C2 with the bypass pipes ........Hands down

I've heard straight piped 911's. It is cool, but not very civil.
