I am currently selling my car and my wife brought to my attention the fact that I could very easily get hurt showing the car. I show it in front of the security gate where I live (I don't tell potential buyers that is where I live), but she came up with the scenario where the person could in theory test drive the car (with me in it) and then stop along the way where his partners in crime could hurt me, or take me hostage, and still keep my car. Odds are that it would not happen as this is a small country and not too many cars like mine (compared to the US), but makes you think twice before showing your car to some John Doe, regardless if you meet in a public place. Next time I am showing it, I will sure to carry along something that will make any idiot think twice before jacking me

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.

Craigslist might want to rethink that one. Or I guess this falls under that 1%.
