7 Arrested in Craigslist Porsche Scam on Long Island
MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) -- Police say seven people have been arrested on Long Island in connection with a robbery scam that used Craigslist advertisements for a Porsche as bait.
In two cases, people who showed up looking for a bargain were beaten and robbed.
Nassau County police say a 17-year-old Queens girl placed both ads. Her alleged accomplices range in age from 16 to 19.
The robberies took place in Baldwin on Dec. 6 and in Freeport on Nov. 26.
In the Freeport robbery, a couple drove from Pennsylvania to buy a 2006 Porsche. When they got out of their car, three or four men attacked them, stealing a cell phone and several thousand dollars.

kinda sad, but expected. Nobody wants to work for anything, it's too easy to take advantage of people. What I think is even worse is, when people are in these situations and go to protect themselves, yet end up getting charged.

Are people stupid? Aren't there some basic rules for buying and selling cars to private parties?
#1 - never go alone
#2 - always meet in PUBLIC and I mean VERY PUBLIC places.
#3 - try and meet during the DAY - not only for safety but to see what you are purchasing..especially a car!
how can it happen if you follow those simple rules? Man...I always meet people at this huge chevron near my home super busy...all the time or at a Starbucks in a shopping center. It protects the buyer and a seller.
those damn KIDS...need a beating.

Some time meeting in public place is still not all that safe. I read story about seller got car-jack and robbed of all belonging in front of his home. When your number's up, you can't avoided.
