Cool FABSPEED muffler system

Sup my fellow P-CAR enthusiasts.

Hey I am a new member and first of all I can't get enough of this site. I am thinking of adding a Fabspeed MaxFlo Hi-Performance Muffler, Fabspeed Catalytic Converter Bypass Pipes 996, and Fabspeed Muffler Bypass. With these additions will I pass emissions in Virginia? Does anyone know a good site or place where I can purchase these items at a good price? How much more horsepower will i be gaining? The site I was looking at told me about 30hp....is that correct? Another motivation for adding these mods is that my whole muffler sytem will be polished and it will look like a show car. Is this a good purchase? Thanks in advance for all of your help and input!!!!!

I had the bypass pipes-- they are loud -not just loud very loud
It does effect low end torque but from 4-5k on up the car just rips plus tunnels or overpasses sound great. But i think its too much for daily driving -I had mine on for 1 year but i drive the car on weeknds. I think ure best bet is the mufflers themselves

Welcome to the 6 my man. I will give you a heads up post pics of the ride when you get a sec, or you will get it . To answer your questions Fabspeed is a great product and I have the Fabspeed Mufflers on my ride and love them, made VERY WELL and sound JUST RIGHT. You mentioned Mufflers and Muffler By Pass. Its either or you cant have both. The By Pass Pipes delete the Muffler System all together, and I had these as well. Let me warn you, THESE ARE EXTEMELY LOUD after year I took them off they are sweet at first but get tiresome. If your a die hard maybe youll like them. As far as 30 hp from all those parts EHHHHHHHHHHH maybe... maybe not but either way Fabspeed is a great product and great guys to work with. Just go to their website and they have videos of their products with sound bites and product info.Good luck with car, and get those pics up

welcome 2 6 speed bud.

As far as HP goes..you won't get 30HP from a non-turbo porsche with just the mufflers, but you will get some gains. Best areas of improvement though are weight reduction and the awsome sound.

I'm not sure how busy fairfax is, but i ran bypass pipes in toronto for about 2-3 years and no cops ticketed me, probably because they don't know what to look for when pulling over and looking under a porsche hood. Chances are that if your car LOOKS like it should be fast and you don't live in Kalifornia, you'll be fine with ur. But be warned: your wife will leave you, and you will go deaf so if you can't live with that, might as well stick with the Maxflo mufflers.

You will lose too much backpressure and your bottom end will suffer bad.Not worth it for a street car.

Welcome to the 6!

For a daily driver, I'd echo the comments above and suggest the Fabspeed Maxflo rather than cup bypass pipes. They may offer some power improvement (only a dyno could tell you for sure), and the sound will be sufficient to put a on your face and make you the hero of all aspiring Porsche drivers.

I had Fabspeed headers/mufflers mods. Hate the sound (same as stock), and no seat in pant performance. Sold the exhaust. Did PSE hacked. Happy with it. No smog test problem. Now have Fabspeed headers, PSE hacked cans, K&N intake, RSS plenum. Done with add-on to engine mod. Next, EVOMS supercharger for real serious kick to stock TT.

I have had the by-pass pipes for 3 years now and i love it.Yes you will notice the lack of low end torque but the car sounds like a beast. When it starts up people around you can't help but look to see wear that mean sound is coming from. Over the years i have gotten better with playing with the gas to drive away not as loud as normal. Some people like them most people hate them, but they do sound sick. Id honestly just get the bypass pipes off ebay being they are only $150 and not $550 like on fabspeed this way if you don't like them it wouldnt be that much of a waste. Again welcome to the most addicting website i have ever found!

I have the Fabspeed exhaust and I love it other than the infamous "drone" at 2000-2500 rpms. I'm told Fabspeed now makes different mufflers for tiptronic cars to help with the drone. I can't imagine going much louder than just the mufflers! Your wife and neighbors will hate you!

hello and welcome to the 6!

we have the fabspeed bypass on our 996 and i have to admit, it is my favorite mod on that car! yes, it's loud, but in a really good way! =) granted, i would never put in on my boxster as i don't want anyone to say "all show and no go". haha!

we had a guy come up to us at a gas station to shake my hubby's hand and then tell him that the sound of his car made him drool and he said "dude, your car is one bad as* soldier!". it was epic! haha!

best wishes!

I have the Fabspeed mufflers and love it. I don't get any noticable drone in cab in fact (but I'm hardly ever below 2500 RPM), sometimes I wish the exhaust where a little louder. . The car is a touch quicker but nothing earth shattering.

I'm in your area so if you want to hear it, your more than welcome as I go to quite a few of the local get togethers.

With regards to emissions, I don't know if you'll pass but as I recall, NOVA is pretty strict. With that in mind, the exhaust is really easy to swap out so if you go the route of taking off the cats and mufflers, just swap them out for stock when you have to go to inspection.

Welcome to the 6. I have a set of bypass pipes sitting in the garage. I used them for a few weeks and the sound is agressive bordering on obnoxious. Too much for my ears, perhaps it's younger guy thing.
