996 Cab Oil

ANYBODY KNOW WHAT TYPE OF OIL TO PUT IN MY 911. I WAS TOLD TO MIX MOBIL1 5 30 WITH 15 50 ON 996 FAQ ONLINE. ANYBODY KNOW IF THATS GOOD OR WILL IT RUIN MY CAR

No, it will not ruin your car. However, the factory recommends 0-40 and my P-car dealer uses 15-50. We're in the south and heavier viscosity oils will work OK. You're in NY and maybe 0-40 should be used. Why go to all that trouble of mixing oils? 15-50 is sold everywhere and most auto parts stores carry 0-40..

Lots of new approved oil recommendations from Porsche. TSB on it just recently. You can find them over at Renntech.org. I didn't see 15-50 on the list anymore.
