Holy smoke batman!!! That is probably why you are smokin' like you are. It'll burn off, but that would so bother me. I put in half a qt at a time...check the level and then add from there. Sounds like you definitely over filled. Live in learn.

Over fill won't burn off any time soon ..........
"drain excess oil from crankcase before you drive again or serious engine damage may result. " Quote from premier master porsche tech...... sounds like good advice.

Full minus 2 ticks on the electronic oil measurement is perfect.
My car always smokes when it full with oil, or the day after "spirited driving". Perfectly normal. Nothing to worry about.
When we first got the Carrera, the electronic oil meter on the car was filled. Before the first oil change it had gone down to about half, but after the dealership did a change the meter now is back to full. I thought this was normal? The car hardly ever smokes when the oil is filled, even after hard driving There is also a high pitched noise coming from the engine at redline. I assume that is normal? Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Definently drain the oil down to the proper level before driving again. Over filling can cause problems. When I had my 911 sc. I went in for a oil change one time. I told them it takes about 11 quarts. They did not realize there was 2 drain plugs, and only drained half the oil and added 11 quarts. After about 6 miles of driving the car started to smoke very badly, and I immediately lost all power, and the engine died. Don't go cheap and go to Goodyear for a oil change. Lesson learned. Never over fill the oil.

Good God, man. RTFM. The amount of oil between the electronic hi and low marks is a little less than a quart.
