On my setup- I have a 10" in the trunk within a closed enclosure on top of the spare tire. the enclosure has a tube port that's ported to the interior of the car. It's a good setup if you don't want to give up your back seat.

Oh! and another 8" sub to handle the mid base where the factory sub would be(passenger footwell). They fabricated a small box that's not much bigger then the factory unit.

it's done by Reus Audio. http://www.reusaudio.com/

yo, okhoon/rob it's me eric, traffic school hook up, i got your email.

peterc4c,
i heard the one from the trunk connected to the tube thing. it's a great way to save space for sure, but i was't too happy about the amount of bass that i wanted to get. didn't hit hard enough.

Cab Subwoofer Box

Peter,

I was also interested in the custom cab subwoofer box in the passenger footwell. I'm looking to upgrade my Bose system piecemeal and was looking to replace the factory sub with another of similar dimension but with more power, better sub, and less boominess. Is there any way that you can list what you have and post a pic or two. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Tonger

Amazing Sound

Stock system was awful...

Here is what I did: Total cost about $3k

Replaced the stock unit with a detachable face Alpine, in-dash desk, CD changer controller that reads MP3's. Head unit allows you to control the usual stuff, and more importantly the level of power going to the subs.

Replaced Front and Rear speakers with MB Quart's -- (some people will tell you you dont need the rears, but I think that the sound is 10x better when you leave them in/upgrade them, it really completes the "surround sound" experience).

Removed the rear seats, hid the seatbelts, and had a custom enclousure made (wood) for two 10" JL Audio subs. The enclosure also houses the amplifier and you can access the controls of the amp via a removable panel. The subs fire down and are filtered out towards the seatbacks of the front seats.

A 5-channel Alpine amp runs the entire system, sounds great and really has amazing power to the seperates and to the subs. Allows you to independently control each channel to tweak the system how you like it.

No problem....

I noticied on your "mod's to do list" the Sharkworks garage door kit. I borrowed the idea from Kirby, ITZKIRB, to just buy a switch at the Porsche Parts counter and wire it up myself.

Check out his instructions, it is fairly simple to do...and inexpensive compared to Sharkworks -- it cost about $25 for the switch.

The only thig I did different was mount the switch in the dash where the PSM switch would be since I do not have it in my car.

True it does'nt "hit" as hard as if you had 2 10" behind your seat. but I have kids and need those back seats once in a while.

my box looks just like Tsweat except my 2 subs JL 10" W6 face out toward the back of the seat which are stealth under speaker mesh fabric, i am using a 2 channel 600w PPI amp for the subs and alpine for the highs.
