That's awesome!
Great to hear you saved the beauty and brought it back on the road where it belongs.
Looks nice.

The funny thing was that after I had paid him and we did the paperwork the bodyshop ended up using floor jacks to get it on my car trailer (it would not move on its own) and punched a hole through the engine block!! I told the guy I did not want the car at that point but he was desperate to get rid of it. He gave me the money for a new motor (mostly) just to get it out of there. That was one hell of a long day!

David, wow okay... Well I was going to say, that the original owner of that car is extremely SHADY. A friend of mine drove out from San Diego to LA, after speaking with him, to come buy and pick up the car... drove 2.5hrs out there, and he never answered his phone after he'd arrived... then my buddy saw the hole in the engine block... called the guy repeatedly all day, but he just kept evading, so my friend had to just bite the bullet on the wasted trip, and drive back to SD... Now I wonder if this was on the same day that you got the car...very interesting! Small world...

Chaud, wow that is interesting. The whole deal was pretty shady and scary too... I am leaving out alot of details on this. Might be interesting to chat privately to see if it was the same guy. I will say it was in the middle of Compton in a run down body shop with alot of high end Euro cars... seemed very odd. I guess I was lucky to get the car for the price I did and make it out alive. When I told my friends the story of going down there they said I was nuts. I even wondered if the title was good for it but in the end the title was clear and everything worked out.

So does it have a clean title?

Did you do the full facelift?

Where did you get the body parts from. Cheap source? I have been thinking about it

David, I'm 100% sure that is the same car, and the same people. I have the pictures saved from the Autotrader ad in the past... 100% no questions asked, the same car, same background story, same hole in the engine block. I had even spoken with the San Diego Porsche dealer who ran a VIN check for us. Anyhow, I'm really glad it worked out for you in the end, though we can chat via PM about this...

David, I will definately PM you to arrange a get together in the future with Loren, Chuck Jones, and anybody else local that would like to join us. It would be fun to meet & do a open track event at either Thunderhill or Infineon.
Again, you did a great job on the rebuild & mods.
Here are my project cars. The Vesuvio one went to a new owner a couple months ago. The Iris blue car is almost done and a OEM MK 1 aero kit is waiting to be installed. Iris Blue has Billy Boat headers & mufflers, EVO CAI, RSS plenum, GIAC flash, B&M SSK, PSS9s, factory LSD.

you guys have way more patience than me to devote so much time to restoring cars. i'm sure it's a labor of love. great work!

My first project was an engine fire, the second was a dash fire. The dash was way easier and about half the cost to rebuild.
